Club Activities - We Are Active Throughout the Year! |

First and foremost, the Met Club is a place
for political activists. Beginning
with the petitioning effort in June to put
our candidates
on the ballot and continuing right though
Election Day, the club is the center of the
local East Side campaigns. As many as
six campaigns have been headquartered at the
club at one time, with Met Clubbers serving
as volunteers, staff members, and
candidates. Campaign season is always
the high season at the Met Club. |

The Met Club's popular foreign policy
discussion group meets for eight sessions beginning in February.
Entitled Great Decisions, the
group follows a briefing workbook prepared
by the Foreign Policy Association and is
part of a nationwide program. Other
educational programs and discussion groups
including Campaign Seminars
are periodically scheduled. |

On the first Thursday of each month, Met
Clubbers gather in the Members' Lounge for
an informal social from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
It's an evening to enjoy good political
discussion combined with good refreshments
and even better company. |

Several times a year the club's president
hosts a reception and
buffet dinner featuring a noted guest
speaker. The event is held in the
club's elegant ballroom and is well known
for the quality of the food. |

| |
Various parties and social events occur
throughout the year. An annual St.
Patrick's Party has proved popular
as has the annual winter holiday party. Some recent
events have included a Summer networking
party, campaign kick-off rallies, election
night watch parties, and other social
gatherings of an individual nature. |

The Met Ball is the social highlight of the
Club's year and attracts many friends,
officials, and other well-wishers. The
evening is a festive, black-tie gala that
starts with cocktails, proceeds with dinner,
and features dancing until midnight.
Each year the Met Ball honors the special
achievements of one of our fellow
Republicans. Recent honorees include
Governor George Pataki, Assembly Minority
Leader John Faso, Senator Roy Goodman, and
Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
